Cloud and Infrastructure Engineer

Looking to step into a senior technical role where you can drive meaningful impact across Azure, AWS, security, and modern workplace solutions?
Our client is seeking a highly capable engineer to own cloud platforms, uplift security, deliver projects end-to-end. This is a hands-on, autonomous role well-suited to someone who enjoys technical depth, variety, and direct client engagement.

About the Role

This role delivers a mix of approx. 70% project delivery & 30% BAU
You will work closely with clients to design secure, scalable cloud solutions and uplift their infrastructure maturity. You’ll also be responsible for monitoring, maintaining and optimising cloud environments, owning security improvements, and acting as the escalation point for complex incidents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner directly with clients to identify opportunities to improve infrastructure, security, end-user experience, and compliance.
  • Plan, design and implement secure, repeatable solutions across Azure (IaaS/PaaS), AWS, and SaaS ecosystems.
  • Maintain and evolve existing cloud environments, ensuring performance, cost optimisation, and alignment to best practice.
  • Deploy and manage Azure Virtual Desktop environments delivering exceptional user experience and governance.
  • Own and deliver projects ranging from 1 day to 3 weeks — ensuring outcomes are on time and on budget.
  • Provide senior technical leadership across Azure AD, networking, and Windows workloads.
  • Handle Level 3 escalations for M365, on-premise servers, storage, security, and networking.
  • Monitor, refine, and uplift security controls across all systems; investigate and resolve security incidents.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft 365 Copilot and automation initiatives.
  • Maintain documentation and processes aligned to ITIL.
  • Coach and mentor a small engineering team.
  • Conduct business analysis and identify opportunities for workflow or application automation.

Ideal Experience
  • 5+ years practical work experience including 3+ years building, maintaining and improving Azure IaaS & PaaS environments in amongst
  • Experience supporting scalable cloud-native architectures.
  • Exposure with IaC tools (Terraform, Bicep) and scripting (PowerShell, Python).
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications, such as (not all):
    • Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
    • Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700)
    • Azure Virtual Desktop Specialty (AZ-140)
    • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
